Here are some additional points of clarification regarding the Integral Peacemaker Training (IPT) Professional Certification Program:

1)   Training requirements: Four Core Components, Nonviolent Communication training, and a Plunge (The EVENT / Auschwitz/Rwanda Bearing Witness Retreat or Street Retreat), can be completed in any order.

2)    Time period: for certification, all the requirements must be completed within a two-year period, beginning with the completion date of the first training component the applicant wishes to count toward certification.

3)   Overall Program Costs (Note: does not include any travel, housing or meals expenses)

Core Component Series:
Transforming Self: $375  ($325 – early registration price)
Transforming Relationship: $375  ($325)
Transforming Groups: $375  ($325)
Transforming Systems: $375 ($325)
___________________________
Total for Series:     $1,500 ($1300)

Thus the cost for the Core Series will run between $1,500 and $1,300 depending on whether a participant meets the early registration (payment) deadlines for each workshop. Anyone can pay a reduced price of $1,100 for the entire series of four components by paying that amount in full before their first Core Series training. Participants who wish to purchase a package discount series of three after attending their first workshop can do so for $900.    Participants in the Core Series and other IPT trainings are responsible for their own travel, housing and meal expenses. Nonviolent Communication (NVC) Training:The cost for a 2-day CNVC certified NVC training offered by the Peacemaker Institute is $295 ($250 with early registration). The Peacemaker Institute offers approximately two NVC trainings each year. NVC trainings offered in other parts of the country may vary in price. The requirement is to complete a full 2-day NVC training with a CNVC certified trainer (participation must be documented if other than Peacemaker Institute offered NVC training).

The EVENT: The cost for The EVENT, an intensive 28 hour (approx.) weekend training (begins Friday evening) is: $450 ($395 with early registration). The Event is offered once yearly by the Peacemaker Institute in Boulder, Colorado.

Participation in the Street Retreat requires a $108 registration fee as well as the “raising of a mala,” mala funds to benefit Street Retreat beneficiaries, e.g. St. Francis Day Shelter, Namaste Hospice, the Gathering Place, or like institutions serving the homeless.  Other Zen Peacemaker street retreats in other locations may have similar but slightly different requirements.

(4) Scholarships:  At this time the Peacemaker Institute has very minimal funding available for scholarships, to be offered based on qualifications and need – on a case by case basis. The Peacemaker Institute will continually seek to raise more scholarship funds in order to make the program available to as diverse a group of participants as possible; however, we ask those participants who are in genuine need of a scholarship to engage in a co-creative, co-responsible fundraising effort with the Institute. In all cases, the participant will need to engage in the “mala practice” and raise a matching amount to whatever scholarship funds are made available to them. To clarify this, see the following example:

Example Scholarship Scenario:
Cost of a particular workshop:   $375
Out of pocket payment by participant:  $150
Mala Funds raised by participant   $150
Scholarship provide by P.I.:   $75
Total:  $375

Note: this example is solely for the purpose of clarifying the “matching” scholarship funds/mala funds process, and is not any indication of what scholarship funds might be available for any particular workshop or to any particular individual.
