Transforming Groups address the Inner/Collective or Lower Left Quadrant in Ken Wilber’s AQAL Integral Model. This training is designed to transform fear-based collective core beliefs or meta values that encourage scarcity, competitiveness, and win/lose scenarios into more pro-social meta values that encourage abundance, partnership and win/win paradigms and strategies.

For many of us, meeting our needs in groups has been fraught with difficulty or all but impossible. We may have painful memories of dealing with the inclusion/exclusion dynamic going back to our early school days. We may presently find ourselves struggling within groups and organizations, wondering how we can meet our own needs and fulfill our own aspirations while at the same time being able to participate with others to meet group and organizational needs and aspirations. Often, we may feel a pull to subsume our own needs or even lose our own identity in service of being part of or being included in the group. And how do we handle group boundaries? Ideally, we might want any group to be completely open and yet this may not serve the purpose of the group. The mere act of naming a group brings up the issues of inclusion and exclusion.

Wouldn’t it be great to be able to creatively participate in groups and see ours and others needs met with greater skill and confidence?  In Transforming Groups we will learn to navigate this difficult territory with wisdom, humor, insight and depth.

We will spend the entire training in one group field or another, engaging in various practices and group processes like council, matrix and community building to name a few. Participants will have the opportunity to recognize and begin transforming the core issues that surface in response to group dynamics while being introduced to specific practices, processes and skills for effective participation in and facilitation of group and organizational dynamics and culture.  Participants will also advance their ability to read and navigate the energetic field in groups.

Our Integral Peacemaker Training program is designed to cultivate and enhance Emotional Intelligence (EQ) for leaders, and Transforming Groups focuses on cultivating the social awareness component of EQ in particular.

Most of us are involved in many kinds of groups in our personal, professional and community lives.  Come to Transforming Groups and begin your path of developing wisdom and mastery in effective group participation and facilitation.
